Ramp Up Marathon County completed another ramp this month (May of 2015) in Wausau. This one was for an elderly woman who was having great difficulty entering and exiting her home, even with assistance. Here are photos from the build. Enjoy this pictorial essay from Ramp Up Marathon County leadership team member John Ohnstad!

Behind the Scenes at a Ramp Up Marathon County Build
Ramp Up Marathon County completed another wheelchair ramp for a Marathon County resident the week of May 15, 2015.We thought you'd enjoy checking out some photos from the build.
The minimal slope of this ramp means that this gentleman can get up and down the ramp - and subsequently in and out of his house - all on his own. He is able to maintain his independence and get to and from frequent medical appointments.
Ramp Up Marathon County designer Dick Lehmann typically spends hours of volunteer time reviewing the site and creating the building plans and materials list. Here are designs for two different ramp projects underway by Ramp Up Marathon County.
If you'd like to volunteer for or donate to Ramp Up Marathon County, or would just like more information, please contact Erin Wells, Ramp Up Marathon County Co-Chair. Erin works for the Aging & Disability Resource Center and can be reached at 715-539-1394.

Getting the Word Out
On April 21, 2015, several individuals involved in Ramp Up Marathon County presented to the 55+ group at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Weston (Wisconsin) about the Ramp Up program and collaborating agencies.
Topics in this presentation included information about eligibility, the screening process for ramp recipients and projects and overviews of broader services provided by the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin and Midstate Independent Living Consultants, Inc., both Ramp Up collaborators. Information was also shared about the building process itself, as well as the need for volunteers and donors.
All materials for Ramp Up Marathon County projects are paid for through donations and grants, and all design and construction is done by qualified volunteers. Ramp Up Marathon County builds ramps for a limited number of people in financial need in Marathon County. The group's goal is to build two to four ramps per building season.
